A video has gone viral online showing Mizoram deputy speaker and two-time MLA Pu Lalrinawma cutting the log of a fallen tree, with the help of an axe, that was blocking traffic on a road.

According to reports, an engineer by qualification, Lalrinawma was on the way to his constituency Tuikum when he saw the fallen tree blocking the road.Without waiting for help, he swung into action himself by cutting the log of the fallen tree to clear the road.

The video is creating waves in the social media.

Originally posted on Twitter, the video is captioned: “The axe-man is Mr. Lalrinawma, Dy. Speaker of Mizoram. He helps clear a village road like this. This ain’t a photo-op. This is who we are.”

The video has seen be posted on various Mizoram-based Facebook pages where he was praised for the act by several people on social media.

Lalrinawma was elected as the deputy speaker of Mizoram House unopposed in December 2018.

A degree holder in mechanical engineering, Lalrinawma, had also bagged the seat in 2013 polls.

He is now deputy speaker of Mizoram Legislative Assembly. This incident occurred when he was on his way to visit a village under his constituency. A fallen tree had blocked the road. So, he picked up an axe and helped clear it.Much to learn from. One reason why Mizoram is ahead of other states in North East.
