Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma led National People’s Party (NPP) is likely to contest as many as 25 Assembly constituencies in the upcoming election to the 40-member Mizoram Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held on November 28 next.
Interacting with media in Aizawl on Monday, NPP leader Sasank Ghatraj disclosed that the party is flooded with ticket seekers and around 25 aspirants have been shortlisted for contesting the ensuing Assembly elections in the State.

Ghatraj also said that most of the aspirants are young people who have a desire to change the political history of Mizoram.
The party is likely to finalize the list of candidates shortly.
The NPP leader also said that the party wants to contest as many seats as possible provided eligible candidates are found in the respective constituencies.

Ghatraj, who is also national observer of the party for Mizoram said that the NPP will not forge any pre-poll alliance with any party.
While asserting that his party would fight the election in Mizoram alone, Ghatraj exuded confidence that NPP would play a decisive role in the formation of the next government in the State.
Notably, the National People’s Party was launched amid fanfare by the party president Conrad Sangma on September 29 last in Aizawl.
The party is one of the NDA partners.
The NPP is also one of the constituent units of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).
In Meghalaya, the party is the major partner of the ruling MDA alliance. The party is also in the ruling alliance in Nagaland and Manipur.
