At least three people, including a Myanmar national, were arrested with 503 grams of heroin worth around Rs 14.7 lakh in Aizawl and Champhai district near the Myanmar border on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, officials of the excise and narcotics department conducted a search at Zote and Ngur villages in Champhai district and seized 461 grams of heroin.

Two accused identified as Zalianthang, 24, and Pausawmmuang, 26, both from Champhai town were arrested for possessing the contraband, a statement by the state excise and narcotics department said.
In another seizure, the anti-narcotics squad of the department on Thursday seized 42 grams of heroin at two locations in Aizawl and arrested Lalrinsiama (32), a resident of Tahan in Myanmar, it said.
The contraband is altogether worth Rs 14.7 lakh was believed to be smuggled from Myanmar.

The three accused were booked under relevant sections of “The Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.”
