A multipurpose indoor sports stadium, acclaimed as the largest of its kind in Mizoram at Sazaikawn in Lunglei district was inaugurated on Friday by Mizoram sports & youth services minister Zodintluanga.
The Rs 6 crore multipurpose indoor sports stadium at Sazaikawn in Lunglei has a total area of 2484.86 sq. metres and housed indoor combat sports dojo which can cater taekwondo, judo and the likes.

Inaugurating the state of the art indoor sports stadium built by Lushai Engineers, Zodintluanga said,”This sports house is equipped with state of the art sports infrastructure and can host even an international event.”
“The talented youths of Mizoram, due to the lack of proper sports infrastructure were denied opportunities in the past, now our government has provided sports infrastructure in the nook and corner of the state. I want the youths to make the most out of these infrastructures, and especially a stadium like this,” Zodintluanga said.
The Sazaikawn multi-purpose indoor stadium is being built under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme (USIS).

Guest of honour, social welfare minister PC Lalthanliana asked the youths of Mizoram to take up more sincere efforts in achieving their sports dream. “The government has provided the infrastructure, what we cannot provide is the sincerity and the dedication of the Mizo youths in achieving their goals,” PC Lalthanliana said.
The inaugural function of the Sazaikawn multi-purpose indoor stadium was attended by several dignitaries. S Laldingliana, vice chariman, Lunglei High Powered Committee, Chalrosanga, Lunglei West Assembly Constitueny MLA and Lalawmpuia, Chairman Lunglei District Sports Committee were present at the function.
