Mizo National Front (MNF) president Zoramthanga was sworn in as the new Mizoram Chief Minister for his third term on Saturday.

Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Zoramthanga and his council of ministers at Raj Bhavan in Aizawl.

Chief Ministers of other north eastern states have been invited to attend the ceremony. The new council of ministers was also sworn in ceremonially a short while ago.

Eleven others were sworn in as ministers include Tawnluia, ex-Congress minister Lalzirliana and Aizawl Football Club owner Robert R Royte.

Notably, in the 40-member Assembly, the MNF has bagged 26 seats after counting of votes took place on Monday last.

Two days back, MNF president Zoramthanga has been nominated as the leader of the legislative party by its newly elected legislators.

This is the third term that the MNF is forming government in Mizoram and after a gap of 10 years.

Earlier, it has run governments during 1998 to 2008 for two consecutive terms and was headed by Zoramthanga as Chief Minister.
