22-year-old Nutlai Lalbiakkima from Mizoram has created history in the boxing world. Unfortunately, he could not experience the limelight like other sportsmen, but now, his achievement will be noticed by the entire world.

Belonging to Siaha, a small village in Mizoram, the boy has amazed the entire world by defeating the prevailing Olympic light weight (49 kg) champion and emerged as an excellent boxer, an India Today report said.

The young boxer vanquished Hasanboy Dusmatov and reached the 49kg semifinals of the President’s Cup tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan

“I have watched all his (Dusmatov) videos and it’s was a very special win. I used speed along with counter-punches and well-judged guard to keep Hasanboy at bay”, Times of India quoted Lalbiakkima said as saying.

“I played the 2017 Senior Nationals in Vishakhapatnam where I won a bronze. My performance was observed by the Santiago Nieva sir (federation’s high performance director) as well as Suranjoy Singh sir and then I was called to come and join the trials for Indian team in Patiala. And since that day, I have been working hard and only dreaming to represent India. I am thankful to God and all who have helped me in my journey so far,” an emotional Lalbiakkima told the newspaper.
