Mizoram on Sunday reported two more COVID-19 deaths. 

Two women aged 50 and 49 years from Aizawl district have succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC), an official said.

With this the COVID-19 death toll in Mizoram has reached 33. 

While the 50-year-old woman was diagnosed with COVID-19 on May 7, the other victim was infected with novel coronavirus on May 20, he said. 

Both were suffering from comorbidities, he added.

On the other hand, Mizoram on Sunday reported 214 COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 10,220. 

The number of active cases now stands at 2,396, while 7,791 people have recovered from the infection. 

55 people were discharged from various Covid-19 Care Centres on Sunday after they were declared ‘recovered’. 

Meanwhile, the Mizoram Government has extended complete lockdown in Aizawl and other district headquarters till May 31 to curtail the rising COVID-19 transmission. 

The existing total lockdown was scheduled to be lifted at 4 am on Monday.
