At least two persons were arrested for possessing heroin worth over Rs 18.14 lakh in separate raids conducted by state Excise and Narcotics department and Assam Rifles.
A statement issued by the excise department said that officials of the department have seized 308 grams of heroin worth Rs. 9.10 lakh in Aizawl’s Bawngkawn locality.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday based on specific information, it said.
A peddler identified as Lalmalsawma (36), a resident of Saipum village in Kolasib district, who is now living at Durtlang in Aizawl, has been arrested for possessing the contraband, it said.

In another seizure, Assam Rifles troopers also recovered 235 grams of heroin worth Rs 9.4 lakh and apprehended one person along Runtlang-Khawkawn road in Champhai district on Wednesday, a statement said.
The contraband and the detained person were handed over to state police, it said.
The two accused were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
