Mizoram on Wednesday reported the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases as 317 people, including over 60 children, have tested positive for the infection.
This has pushed the State’s total cases tally to 10,937, an official said.
He said that 3,641 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 8.70 per cent of them came out positive for COVID-19.
Of the 317 fresh cases, Aizawl district reported the highest cases at 258, followed by Lawngtlai district, which reported 26 cases, he said.

The remaining cases were reported from Siaha, Lunglei, Mamit, Khawzawl, Kolasib and Serchhip districts.
16 patients have a travel history, while 283 patients were diagnosed with COVID-19 during contact tracing and it is to ascertain how the remaining 18 patients have contracted the virus.
95 patients have developed symptoms of COVID-19 and 222 are asymptomatic, he said.
The number of active cases now stands at 2,743, while 8,160 people have recovered from the infection.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state is 34.
Mizoram has conducted 3,75,843 samples test till date, including 3.641 on Tuesday.
According to state immunization officer Dr. Lalzawmi, 2,49,831 people have been administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and among them 52,039 have received the second dose till Tuesday.
