Mizoram reported one fresh case of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 142, an official said.
The official said that out of the 562 samples tested at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Sunday, a 30-year-old man from Siaha was found infected with Covid-19.
The patient, who is a Delhi returnee, did now show any symptoms of coronavirus, he said.
The official also said that three patients undertaking treatment at ZMC were recovered and discharged from the medical college on Monday, taking the total recovery to 12.
Two of the recovered patients are from Aizawl and one from Mamit district, he said.
Government sources also said that 35 patients from Lunglei and one from Khawzawl district have tested negative for Covid-19.
However, the patients will be officially declared recovered once they discharge from hospitals, the sources said.
There are 130 active cases in the state while 12 people have already recovered.
Responding to a call given by Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC), several churches in Mizoram held prayers on Sunday night seeking divine intervention to contain the spread of novel coronavirus that infected at least 142 people in the state so far.
MKHC is a conglomerate of 15 major churches in the state.
A leader of MKHC said that local churches arranged prayer programmes as per which church members offered prayers in their respective homes as churches have been suspended due to coronavirus induced lockdown since March.
He said that people offered prayers so that the pandemic is fully contained not only in Mizoram but the entire world.
Earlier in March, churches in Mizoram also held prayer programmes on two occasions seeking divine intervention to contain the global pandemic.
All churches in the state have been suspended for 3 months since March 22 due lockdown imposed to curtail the spread of Covid-19.
