Mizoram COVID-19 count reached 1, 40,143 on Thursday as 241 more people, including 44 children, have tested positive for novel coronavirus, an official statement said.

The statement issued by state information and public relations department said no fatality was reported in the last 24 hours and the death toll remains at 535.

The single-day positivity rate was 7.86 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 3,066 sample tests, it said.

Aizawl district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 88, followed by Mamit district (51) and Kolasib district (33), it said.

The number of active cases now stands at 1,847, while 238 people have recovered from the infection on Wednesday, taking the total recoveries to 1,37,761, it said.

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 98.30 per cent and the death rate is 0.38 per cent.

The state has so far tested more than 14.92 lakh samples for COVID-19 and 3,066 samples were tested on Wednesday, according to the health department.

Over 7.29 lakh people have been inoculated and 5.87 lakh of them have received full dose till Wednesday, state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi said.
