AIZAWL: Personnel of the Mizoram police and Assam Rifles, in a joint operation, seized a significant quantity of Heroin, along with explosive devices such as gelatin sticks and detonators.

The recovery was made in Champhai district of Mizoram.

According to Mizoram police, the operation led to the recovery of 198 soap cases containing 2.393 kilograms of heroin, valued at Rs 71,79,000.

The contraband was found in the possession of two individuals, identified as B Liansanga (45), a driver from Lunglei Chanmari, and R Malsawmthara (35), from Tuipui village in Champhai district of Mizoram.

Reports indicate that the heroin was being transported from Myanmar to Zokhawthar in Mizoram in a vehicle owned and driven by B Liansanga.

A formal complaint was lodged at the Zokhawthar police station in Mizoram regarding the incident.

Additionally, during the operation, authorities recovered 110 gelatin sticks weighing 14.084 kilograms and 110 detonators from a couple identified as Biakrema (29) and Ramthazuali (28), both residents of Tiau Khawmawi village in Chin state of Myanmar.
