AIZAWL: In coordinated operations based on intelligence inputs, Assam Rifles and Mizoram police apprehended two individuals and confiscated a significant quantity of heroin and methamphetamine tablets valued at Rs 9.83 crore, Assam Rifles informed in a statement on Monday (April 29).
The joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram police conducted a raid in the vicinity of Melbuk road junction in Zokhawthar village, located in Champhai district of Mizoram.

During the operation, they intercepted a peddler and seized 453 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth Rs 3.17 crore, the statement confirmed.
In a separate operation conducted earlier, personnel from Assam Rifles and local police in Aizawl acted swiftly, seizing 20,000 tablets (1.9 kg) of methamphetamine from the Salem Veng locality on Saturday.
One individual was apprehended in connection with the possession of the methamphetamine tablets, valued at Rs. 6.66 crore, according to the statement.
