AIZAWL: The NGO coordination committee (NGOCC) in Mizoram has raised objection to the Centre’s decision to fence the India-Myanmar border and scrapping of the free movement regime (FMR) between the two neighbouring countries.

A meeting of the NGOCC was held at Aizawl in Mizoram on Tuesday (February 13), which was chaired by Lalhmachhuana, president of the central YMA and chairman of NGOCC.

In the meeting, the NGOCC announced that it will organise a protest rally on February 21 in Aizawl, Mizoram in opposition to the central government decision to fence the India-Myanmar border and scrapping of the free movement regime (FMR).

NGOCC is a conglomeration of various NGOs in Mizoram, including central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), Mizo Students’ Union (MSU), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), MHIP (Mizo Women’s Front) and MUP (Mizo Elders Association).
