AIZAWL: The Mizo Students’ Union (MSU) of Mizoram has warned Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh of over his statement, wherein he proposed deportation of those people, who entered and settled in Manipur after 1961.
The MSU in Mizoram has warned Manipur CM Biren Singh by stating that if any “Zo people” are deported from Manipur, the Meiteis residing in Mizoram will also “have to leave the state”.

In a statement, the MSU claimed that it has the names, employment details and addresses of all Meiteis residing in Mizoram.
Earlier, Manipur CM Biren Singh had said that irrespective of caste or community, anyone coming into the state after 1961 will be “identified and deported”.
The Manipur CM’s statement marks taking over 12,000 refugees from Myanmar in different districts in the state at present.

In a statement issued by the Manipur CM’s Secretariat, Biren Singh said that anyone coming into the state from other parts of the world after 1961 which is the base year for the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system will be identified and deported.
