Mizoram MP urges Centre to build roads along Indo-Bangla border

Mizoram Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena has stressed the need to build roads along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

He mentioned this during a motion of thanks to the President’s Speech in the Budget Session of the Parliament on Thursday.

Vanlalvena highlighted the road projects undertaken by the Central government in Mizoram and stressed the importance of building Indo-Bangladesh border roads.

He said that the four-lane road project between Siaha and Aizawl would start soon, and that the double-lane road projects from Aizawl to Champhai and Selling to Tuipang have also started.

The MP also mentioned the upcoming and current projects in Mizoram like the one at Lawngtlai meant to link the Paletwa Myanmar seaport and stated how these roads would be helpful not only for Mizoram but people from other States as well.

He hailed the Centre for its initiative in establishing a Bangladesh border trade centre at Kawrpuichhuah near Tlabung and building a double-lane road between Lunglei and Tlabung for border trade.

He also expressed his concern over the non-accessibility of some villages and BSF outposts along the Bangladesh border and requested the Centre to develop road communication in these border areas.
