As Mizoram continues to fight the spread of novel coronavirus, deputy chief minister, four Cabinet ministers, six ministers of state and Lunglei high power committee vice (HPC) chairman on Wednesday donated 50 per cent of their basic pay for May towards chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF) amounting to Rs 4.8 lakh, an official of the CMO said.

He said the council of ministers, including deputy chief minister Tawnluia and and Lunglei HPC vice chairman will use to donate 50 per cent of their basic pay every month till December to fight COVID-19.

The official said chief minister Zoramthanga had earlier donated 60 per cent of his basic pay for May to fight the spread of COVID-19.

He also said employees of Mizoram law service, Eastern Motor Works, Electric Tipa Kohhran of Evangelical Church of Maraland and K Lalrengpuii, president of MNF women front also donated altogether Rs 1.48 lakh towards the CMRF on Wednesday.
