Mizoram rural development minister Lalruatkima along with the concerned officials inspected a land subsidence area and its affected building in the surrounding area near the junction of Vaivakawn, Hunthar and Chanmari West localities on Thursday.

After careful spot inspection, the main cause of land subsidence on the road and seven partially damaged buildings was found to be the digging works on the road.

Recently, the state investment programme management and implementation unit (SIPMIU) has done the digging works for laying of pipeline.

Slight delay of filling up the displaced soils from the canal seems to trigger this unwanted consequence.

The minister, who is also the incumbent constituent MLA  held face to face meeting with the affected residents and gave them the assurance that remedial measures will be taken promptly.
