Mizoram on Thursday launched the third edition of Mizoram micro start-up capital competition to promote a healthy entrepreneurship ecosystem in the State.

While launching the competition, State Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla urged the youth to come forward and take active participation in the State’s flagship New Economic Development Policy (NEDP).

He also said his government is taking all-out efforts to create a ‘new world for the youths’ by promoting entrepreneurship.

Expressing happiness that some villages in Mizoram have become free of below poverty line (BPL) families, the Chief Minister urged the people to ‘become a BPL-free State’.

He also said Mizoram had many fertile lands and great potential to achieve sustainable development, adding that, all the forest and fertile land should be used effectively for development of the State.

Winners of My NEDP, My Project (Mipui Mamawh Intawm Ruahmanna), an initiative of the State Government under NEDP, which aims at enabling public participation for a major development project were also felicitated on the occasion.

The winners, from the eight districts, were awarded Rs 1 crore each.

The eight projects, which received the award, out of 342, ranged from sustainable eco-tourism to food processing.

The government has been implementing NEDP since 2016 with an aim to create a significant transformational shift to achieve sustainable high and inclusive growth.
