As Tuesday was the last day of campaigning for political parties ahead of the Lok Sabha polls which will be held on April 11, 2019, the Mizoram CEO Ashish Kundra held a briefing with the media where he emphasized on the young voting society of Mizoram.

“If you look at the profile of voters, roughly 40 per cent of voters are in the age band of 18-29 and 63.68 per cent are in the age band of 18-39 which shows that Mizoram is a young voting society,” said the CEO.
Focusing on the young voters, the CEO’s office has launched various campaigns and programmes to encourage the youth such as a video making competition, selfie competition and more.
The CEO said 141 polling parties were dispatched in Aizawl, Lunglei, Lawngtlai and Saiha on Tuesday while the rest of the polling parties will be dispatched on Wednesday. As many as 4812 polling personnel and 4409 security personnel including 12 companies of CRPF and 20 companies of state armed police will be on election duty.

As the people who are drafted for election duty are entitled to cast their ballot and are being issued election duty certificates, Ashish Kundra said more than 10,000 forms for election duty certificates have been received.
For the by-election, the total number of postal ballots is 3084 and for service voters the electronically transmitted postal ballots are 4, 687.
There are 36 strong rooms across the State, where the polled machines will be brought back after the election with 14 in the capital city and others distributed in the various districts of the State.
Mizoram will be going up for election with 7, 87, 777 voters of which 3331 are PwD voters.
