Troopers of the Assam Rifles have recovered an illegal consignment of areca nuts in Mizoram.
The consignment was recovered from Tlangsam-Ruantlang area in Mizoram.

The seizure was made by the Serchhip Battalion of the Assam Rifles.
“The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Customs Department, Champhai based on specific information,” a statement from the Assam Rifles read.

The seized consignment of areca nuts is estimated to be worth Rs 16,80,000.
Two persons have also been apprehended by the Assam Rifles troopers in convectionn with the seizure.
“Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border,” the Assam Rifles statement further read.
