Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga on Wednesday said one of the two Mizoram Houses in Delhi would be used as a Covid19 care centre for the Covid19 infected patients from the state.

There are two Mizoram Houses in Delhi located at Vasant Vihar and Chanakyapuri.

Zoramthanga said he has great concern for the people of the state living in the national capital, who have been infected by the deadly virus.

“A Mizoram House at Vasant Vihar will be used as Covid19 Care Centre for Covid19 infected positive patients from the state to take rest. We will take measure to make it function as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU),” Zoramthanga wrote in his official Instagram handle.

He urged both officials and leaders, who are engaged in Delhi for the welfare of Mizo people to make arrangement in this regard.

The Mizoram chief minister further urged the doctors and nurses from the state living in the national capital to make use of their skills and launch the service as per their convenience.

“We will try our best for our people. It is time for us to fight the pandemic together,” Zoramthanga said.

Delhi is grappling with the second wave of Covid19.

The national capital reported 24,149 new Covid19 cases and 381 deaths on Tuesday, the highest single-day toll since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 49 people have been discharged from various Covid19 care centres in Mizoram on Wednesday, reducing the active cases in the state to 936.

A total of 4,792 people have recovered from the viral infection and the recovery rate in the state is 83.46%.

Mizoram on Wednesday reported the highest spike ever with 229 new cases, pushing the state’s tally to 5,742.

At least 13 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
