Heroin worth Rs 75 lakh has been recovered by the troopers of Assam Rifles from Bethlehem Veng area of Aizawl in Mizoram.

The troopers of Assam Rifle’s Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector recovered 189 grams of heroin.

An operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles, 19 FIT, Excise & Narcotics Dept and YMA, Bethlehem on Sunday.

The approximate cost of the heroin is estimated to be around Rs 75,60,000.

The Excise and Narcotics department also arrested three persons, including two women in connection with the seizure.

“Smuggling activities along the India-Myanmar Border have been a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram,” the Assam Rifles stated.
