AIZAWL: The Mizoram excise and narcotics department in Aizawl achieved a significant breakthrough on Wednesday (April 03) with the seizure of over 5 kilograms of Heroin, marking the second major interception within a span of two days.
Following actionable intelligence, authorities conducted a raid at Falkland locality in Aizawl city of Mizoram, resulting in the confiscation of 5.427 kilograms of Heroin.

The contraband was found in the possession of Lalnunmawia, alias Puia (38), a resident of Teidu in Tripura, currently residing in Aizawl.
Lalchawiliana (34), hailing from Khampat Kanaan in Myanmar, and presently residing in Vairengte town of Mizoram, was also implicated in the incident.
During interrogation, the detained individuals revealed that the heroin had been smuggled from Myanmar.

Additionally, authorities seized a pick-up truck bearing registration number MZ-01-V-2018, which was utilized for transporting the illicit drugs.
Both individuals have been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act 1984 and are scheduled to appear in court.
If convicted, they could face imprisonment ranging from 10 to 20 years, along with a fine ranging from 1 to 2 lakhs.
This development comes in the wake of another significant arrest on Tuesday (April 02), where two Myanmar nationals were apprehended in connection with drug-related offenses in Mizoram.
The seized Heroin is estimated to around Rs 38 crore in black market.
