Mizoram Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Tuesday committed 30 per cent of his gross salary for 60 months to fight the global COVID-19 pandemic, source in Raj Bhavan said on Wednesday.
The salary amounting to over Rs one lakh was donated towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF), which is COVID-19 fund, the sources said.

The Governor also adopted several measures to cut expenditure of the Raj Bhavan during the fiscal 2020-21.
According to the sources, no new capital works will be taken up by the Raj Bhavan and repair and maintenance work will be minimized to only ensure proper upkeep of the existing assets during the fiscal 2020-21.

Other austerity measures included reduction of expenditure on office consumable, furniture, computers and other electronic gadgets; no purchase of new vehicle, reduction of water and electricity consumption by all officers and staffers and also minimization of domestic tour programmes, among others.
