Updating on the Mizoram’s power infrastructure, the minister disclosed that Mizoram presently operates 15 small hydroelectric projects, collectively yielding 38.55 MW of power.
However, he noted that power generation is subject to weather conditions.
To meet the state’s power demands, Mizoram expends Rs 33-37 crore monthly on procuring power from external sources, necessitated by the requirement of 156 MW during peak hours.
In a bid to bolster power generation capacity, the Mizoram government has plans for three hydel electric projects capable of generating 294 MW collectively.
Additionally, four solar power plants, with a combined capacity of 45 MW, are also in the pipeline.
