Durjya Dhan Chakma of the Mizo National Front (MNF) was sworn-in as the 21st Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in Mizoram on Tuesday.
Lawngtlai district additional deputy commissioner Marilyn Rual Zakhumthangi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chakma during a swearing-in ceremony held at the council rest house in Kamalanagar.

Chakma replaced Rasik Mohan Chakma, who resigned on voluntary ground on March 29 to pave way for the former.
To be inducted in the new executive committee, Durjya Dhan Chakma has announced four members – Hiranand Tongchangya, Bhuban Kumar Chakma, Uday Tongchangya and Sanjiv Chakma.
Altogether, there are seven executive members in the council.

Durjya Dhan Chakma was appointed as the new CEM on Monday by state governor PS Sreedharan Pillai following the resignation tendered b. Rasik Mohan Chakma.

The resignation Rasik Mohan Chakma came two days after the council chairman H Amaresh Chakma was removed from his post in a no-confidence motion during the recently concluded budget session.
Durjya Dhan Chakma is the third to be appointed as CEM in the present council.
He successfully contested the council poll held in April 2018 on MNF ticket from Kamalanagar North constituency.
CADC General Election held in 2018 with MNF ticket and was elected from 5-Kamalanagar (N).
Speaking at the swearing-in function, he said that it shall be his responsibility to attend to issues that concern the Chakma community at large to the best of his capacity.

He has appealed for the cooperation of political leaders irrespective of political affiliation, community NGO leaders, intellectuals and thinkers in his mission for the development of the CADC.
While emphasizing education to be his priority he urged the teacher’s community for their dedication and support to produce high-quality citizens.
