AIZAWL: In two separate operations, Assam Rifles and other law enforcement agencies have confiscated drugs and Indian currency amounting to over Rs 3 crore in Mizoram.

The seizure of the drugs resulted in the arrest of as many as six drug peddlers, including four Myanmar nationals.

The seized items, including heroin, foreign-origin beer, and Indian currency totalling around Rs 1.4 crore, were later handed over to the Mizoram police for further legal action.

Assam Rifles, in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies such as Customs, conducted joint raids in Siaha and Champhai districts of Mizoram.

These operations led to the recovery of drugs and Indian currencies and the apprehension of six individuals, four of whom were Myanmar nationals and two were residents of Mizoram.

On Wednesday night, Assam Rifles, in conjunction with Mizoram Police, seized 11.39 kg of highly addictive methamphetamine tablets and 218 grams of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 35.19 crore.

Three drug peddlers, including two women, were arrested in Mizoram’s Champhai district in connection with this incident.
