The Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) on Friday disbursed incentive cash award amounting to Rs 70 lakh to students, who successfully cleared various competitive examinations.
Deputy chief minister Tawnluia doled out the incentives to 147 students at a function held at Vanapa hall in Aizawl.

The incentive cash award, a pilot project of the state’s flagship programme- Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP), is to encourage students to enrol themselves in central, military and bank services.
The incentive cash awards are classified under different categories.
- Category- I: Rs 2 lakh each is given to students who cleared the main written exam of civil services, Indian Forest Service and Indian Economic or Statistical Service conducted by the UPSC
- Category II: Rs 1 lakh is given to those who clear preliminary exams of civil service, or the main examination of National Defence Academy, Combined Defence Service, Assistant Commandant of Central Armed Police Force, Common Admission Test (CAT), IIT-JEE, Special Class Railway Apprentice, Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, Combined Engineer Service, Combined Medical Service and Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist, mostly conducted by the UPSC.
- Category III: Under this category, students who clear GATE or IIT-JAM, IIT-JEE main exams, Military Nursing, Group ‘A’ posts under the union government, Chartered Accountant and UGC NEET are given Rs 50,000.
Apart from this special scholarship of Rs 40,000 is also given to students, who clear the combined graduate level of various examinations conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Group B posts in Indian Railways, Army, Navy, Air Force, post-graduate gold medallist and post-graduate students with NEET.

Rs 30,000 each is also given each to those students clear Combined Higher Secondary-level examination conducted by SSC, participants of Asian or Commonwealth games, gold medallist of National Games
representing Mizoram, group C posts under Indian Railways, Army, Navy, Air Force and topper in Class X examination conducted by Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE).
