Mizoram: Dog meat in feasts & gatherings banned in Kolasib

MMC in Nagaland on Monday directed all dog owners within its jurisdiction to comply with the existing Dog Registration and Proper Control of Dogs Rules.

AIZAWL: Dog meat in menus for feasts and gatherings in Kolasib district of Mizoram has been banned.

The Kolasib district administration in Mizoram has issued a notice banning dog meat in feasts and gatherings.

This notice was issued by the Kolasib district administration following a request from the Mizoram State Animal Welfare Board.

The Mizoram State Animal Welfare Board had asked the Kolasib district administration to prohibit dog meat consumption during events.

Earlier, the Mizoram government had brought the Mizoram Animal Slaughter (Amendment) Bill, 2020, stating that dogs should not be categorised as cattle.
