Mizoram, on Sunday, logged 282 new COVID-19 cases, 33 less than the previous day tally, taking the state’s count to 1,36,362, a health department official said. 

The death toll rose to 505 as a 56-year-old man from Mamit district in Mizoram has succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, he said. 

Of the 282 fresh cases, Aizawl district reported the highest at 149, followed by Khawzawl district (30) and Lunglei district (28), he said. 

The single-day positivity rate dipped to 10.66 per cent from 12.63 per cent on the previous day as the fresh 282 cases were detected from 2,646 sample tests, he said.

Mizoram now has 3,555 COVID-19 active cases, while 346 people have recovered on Saturday, taking the total recoveries to 1,32,302. 

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 97 per cent and the death rate is 0.37 per cent. 

The state has so far tested over 14.44 lakh samples for COVID-19 and 2,646 samples were tested on Saturday. 

According to state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi,  7.22 lakh people have been inoculated and over 5.66 lakh of them received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine till Saturday.
