Single-day recoveries surpassed fresh COVID-19 cases in Mizoram on Wednesday as 1059 more people recuperated from the disease.
On the other hand, 740 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours, a health department official said.
The fresh coronavirus cases pushed the overall tally in Mizoram state to 1,18,949, he said.
However, the state reported 8 COVID-19 deaths during the same period, which is one of the highest fatalities in a single day, he said.
With this, 422 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
Altogether 1,10,761 people have so far recovered from the disease, the official said.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state now stands at 93.11 per cent against the national average of 98.19 per cent, while the death rate stands at 0.35 per cent, which is less than the national average of 1.33 per cent, he said.
The single-day positivity rate dipped to 9.12 per cent from 9.43 per cent on the previous day, as the new patients were detected from 8112 sample tests, he said.
Mizoram now has 7,766 active cases.
The state has so far conducted more than 12.86 lakh sample tests for COVID-19 till date.
Over 6.95 lakh people have been inoculated till Tuesday, with 5 lakhs of them having received both doses of vaccines, state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi said.
