Assam Rifles DIG Brigadier Digvijay Singh on Sunday paid a visit to Thutak Nunpuitu Team (TNT), a privately run orphanage home on the northern outskirts of Aizawl.
About 500 children including specially-abled kids were staying in the orphanage.
Singh had an interactive session with the workers during which ways and means of improving the infrastructure and habitat of the orphanage were discussed.
As the hidden talents require the right exposure, the DIG also motivated them by donating tracksuits and sports shoes and promised that Assam Rifles will assist the children in all possible ways.
A cake-cutting ceremony was also organised by Assam Rifles.
Changing the lives of the impoverished has been one of the prime focus of the Assam Rifles and such initiatives is set to bring a new dawn in the local community.
As part of recognising the sports talents in the orphanage, the support and possibly recruiting them to Assam Rifles via sports quota was also discussed.
The founder of the orphanage, Sangthankima expressed his heartfelt gratitude for this gesture by the Assam Rifles.
