Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday called for collective efforts to combat corruption, saying the challenge cannot be tackled by a single agency and requires the participation of both citizens and government employees.
Speaking at the release of the first annual report of the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Lalduhoma described corruption as a major impediment to good governance and the overall development of the state.
He said the government had strengthened both the ACB and the Mizoram Lokayukta to enhance the state’s anti-corruption framework and expressed hope that the two institutions would continue to build their professional capabilities.
The Chief Minister said the annual report should serve as a reminder to government employees of the need to discharge their duties with integrity, accountability, transparency and financial propriety.
According to the report, the ACB received 17 corruption-related complaints during 2025-26, of which 15 were taken up for preliminary enquiry, leading to the registration of six regular cases.
The Bureau completed 14 preliminary enquiries, including cases carried forward from previous years, and disposed of seven regular cases during the period.
The report also stated that between 2010 and 2026, the ACB secured the conviction of 112 persons in 35 corruption cases that were charge-sheeted and tried by the Special Court under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
