On October 17 last, Mizoram Truck Owners’ Association (MTOA) and Mizoram Truck Drivers’ Association (MTDA) had organized a strike by staying off the road in protest against bad road conditions on National Highway 306 (formerly NH-54) between Kawnpui and Aizawl.
MTOA general secretary, Dina Tlau, alleged that a number of road accidents had taken place because of the highway’s dilapidated condition, which also affected their vehicles badly.
The strike was called off on October 19 last after the State Government had repaired most bad sections of the national highway.
