The regional political party, Mizo National Front (MNP) has lambasted the security guards of Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, who allegedly had beaten up a truck driver as he reportedly ‘refused’ to give way to pass on the highway.
The truck driver reportedly received serious injury in the reported physical assault by the CM’s security guards.

The MNP condemned the incident of assault involving security guards of the Mizoram Chief Minister after there was an outcry on the social media against the high-handedness of the security guards.
According to media reports, the truck driver, identified as Lalbiakzuala, a resident of Sihphir village near Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, has reportedly been undergoing treatment at Presbyterian Hospital in Durtlang after reportedly being physically assaulted by the CM’s security guards.
The incident of assault had taken place on January 22 on the Aizawl-Kolasib Road when the security guards of the Mizoram CM were travelling from Kolasib, the district headquarters of Kolasib district in Mizoram.

However, during the time of the incident, the security guards were not guarding the CM as he had flown back to Aizawl on helicopter on that day.
Following the incident, seeking justice for his son, the father of the truck driver had lodged an FIR at the Bawngkawn Police Station.
However, the security guards of the CM stated that the despite the sirens, the truck driver had refused to give them way to pass through the highway.
