Mizo documentary film When Thunders Roll will be screened at Mumbai International Film Festival.

The documentary film is about the first Royal Enfield riders’ club of Northeast, The Aizawl Thunders who are known in Mizoram for their charitable deeds.

The documentary will be premiered at the Mumbai International Film Festival which to be held from January 28 to February 3.

The documentary titled When Thunders Roll featured one of the many Aizawl Thunder’s charity rides in 2015. Gangs of bikers are known for their notoriety across the globe but the Aizawl Thunders are a different stock, they are termed by locals as the gang of angels.

With chains and leathers, high voltage and tuned up motorcycle and thunderous sound the Aizawl Thunders have been riding to and fro the state giving charity to the poor and the needy.

The film documented the Independence Day Charity ride of 2015, when a gang of more than a hundred motorcycles doled out charity funds to those living near the National Highway 54. The riders scaled over 90 km and halted whenever they saw the more needy ones.

“The documentary film is 23 minutes long, it featured the Aizawl Thunders Independence Day charity ride of 2015, it is a huge privilege for me as a film maker to have been selected for the Mumbai International Film Festival,” producer of the documentary Naopleon RZ Thanga said.

A self taught filmmaker from Aizawl, Napoleon RZ Thanga has been making short films and documentaries for the past 15 years. He has bagged several state and regional awards in his career.

“Mumbai International Film Festival has two special packages, one for the Northeast filmmakers and another for Jammu & Kashmir filmmakers, my documentary will be screened at the Northeast films section,” Napoleon RZ Thanga said.

A total of 18 documentaries and short films from the Northeast will be screened at the Mumbai International Film Festival.

Mumbai International Film Festival is run by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image popularly known as MAMI. It is regarded as the most popular film festival in the country.
