A massive wildfire has broken out in Lunglei district of Mizoram, which has now started to spread to adjoining areas of Lunglei town.

It has been over 24 hours now that the wildfire broke out.
Firefighting personnel have been engaged and struggling to contain the spread of the wildfire.
Several fire fighters have also reportedly sustained injuries while trying to douse the fast spreading blaze.

On Sunday morning, the wildfire almost took under its grip a petrol pump.

The locals in the area are assisting the firefighting personnel and other government authorities in bringing the situation under control.

Meanwhile, the Indian Airforce has deployed two Mi-17V5 helicopters, which are equipped with Bambi Bucket, to douse the rampaging wildfire in Mizoram’s Lunglei district.
