Mizoram has witnessed a massive spike in the number of COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. 

Mizoram on Wednesday registered as many as 229 fresh COVID-19 cases.

Of the fresh 229 COVID-19 cases, 64 tested positive through RT-PCR test conducted at the Zoram Medical College and 165 through Rapid Antigen test. 

With the detection of these new 229 COVID-19 cases, Sikkim’s active cases tally is now nearing the 1000-mark.

The active cases tally in Mizoram currently stands at 986. 

State capital Aizawl accounts for the maximum number of active cases. 

There are as many as 739 COVID-19 active cases in Mizoram. 

The other Mizoram districts with active COVID-19 cases are: Lunglei – 14, Siaha – 2, Champhai – 7, Kolasib – 30, Serchhip – 74, Lawngtlai – 61, Mamit – 49, Khawzawl – 5, Hnahthial – 1 and Saitual – 4. 

The total COVID-19 caseload in Mizoram now stands at 5742.

Of the total COVID-19 cases detected in Mizoram so far, 3997 are male and 1745 are female. 

Mizoram’s COVID-19 death toll currently stands at 13.
