“We are terribly shocked and saddened to witness this heart-wrenching incident in our civilised world and we find no words to express our pain and indignation,” the letter said.
While strongly condemning the incident, the MHIP urged the NHRC to take cognizance of the offense and take all immediate necessary measures to bring justice to the culprits and take stringent action against all those involved in this crime.
It also urged the commission to pay special attention to the incident and investigate it in order to prevent such kind of inhuman and cruel acts against women in the future.

It further expressed its deepest concern and anguish over the explicit visual of sexual violence against the two women.
“A horrific video of two young Kuki- women being paraded naked on the road by a mob in Manipur has been widely circulated on social media and several reports indicate that these two innocent helpless women were allegedly gang-raped in a paddy field after being paraded naked,” the letter also said.
Meanwhile, the Meitei community living in Mizoram also strongly condemned the heinous crime against the two Kuki women.
In a press statement issued by All Mizoram Manipur Association (AMMA) on Thursday said, “We strongly condemn such inhuman acts perpetrated by some miscreants in the state of Manipur. This act of barbarism is unacceptable and we denounce such an act with utmost force and determination. It is beyond imagination that such obnoxious and cruel crime was committed upon human beings by fellow human beings.”
The AMMA urged the Manipur government to take decisive action, leaving no stone unturned and ensure justice to the victims and their families.
All the culprits involved directly or indirectly in the crime regardless of to which community or organisation or group they belong should be immediately arrested, prosecuted and given harshest punishment under the law of the country without delay, the association said.
The AMMA also appealed to the Centre and Manipur government to provide relief to over 12,500 internally displaced people from the neighbouring state, who took shelter in Mizoram.
It also thanked chief minister Zoramthanga, Mizoram government, churches and civil society organisations for their endless efforts in ensuring safe and secure stay of the Meitei people in Mizoram.
