Lalmuansangi Varte

Champhai girl Lalmuansangi Varte was chosen among 31 state winners of VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 to represent Mizoram in the beauty pageant.

Varte ousted its rival Celina Chakma in the online interview held on Sunday.

The results were declared by Miss India Organisation on Sunday.

The 5.6 feet tall beauty was born and raised in the picturesque town of Champhai in the eastern part of Mizoram bordering Myanmar, which is commonly known as the ‘Rice Bowl of Mizoram’.

She won the second runner-up title in Miss Mizoram 2020 and has been selected by Miss Mizoram Organisation to represent Mizoram in the pageant Femina Miss India because of her beauty, grace, intellect and poise.

She completed her master’s degree in English literature and currently a trainee teacher pursuing her degree in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) at Mizoram University.

She was diagnosed with heart disease while she was only 5 years old which led to her developing a learning disability- dyslexia.

Being a fighter, Varte never gave up her dream.

She turned her disability into an opportunity to reach her goals.

With the help of her parents, her teacher and by God’s grace, she finally overcame the problem after several years of a tough battle.

She was greatly inspired by her teacher who helped her through her toughest time.

And she wants to become a teacher herself so that she could be an inspiration and hope to those who face the same problem as she once did.
