Members of Ethics & MLA Fund Monitoring Committee of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, who are on a visit to Mizoram, had an interaction with Mizoram governor Kummanam Rajasekharan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

During the interaction, governor Kummanam Rajasekharan said that the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are elected by the people and for the people. It is for the members to express the feelings and aspirations of the people.

He said, “MLAs are bound to serve the public. The House’s time is valuable and we should try to maximize it.”

He said that every member may have his own opinion and may therefore agree or disagree with other members.

“We are wasting the time and energy of the public whenever we are disrupting the business of the House.  It is a question of value and it only goes on to show the standard of the members,” he added.

Meanwhile, the members of the Committee said they have been visiting different parts of the country to learn their best practices while sharing their experiences to others. They had a discussion on the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly and also other major developmental projects in their state. The members also expressed their impressions of Mizoram in general.
