The India Today Group’s “State of the States” survey has adjudged Mizoram as the best performing small state in inclusive development and the most improved in economy, health and entrepreneurship.
The annual survey ranks the country’s states on a range of parameters for emerging as the ‘best performing’ and ‘most improved’ states.
“Glad to announce that Mizoram has been adjudged the best performing small state in inclusive development and the most improved small state in economy, health and entrepreneurship by @IndiaToday e-State of the States Conclave 2020,” tweeted Mizoram chief minister, Zoramthanga.

Meanwhile, Manipur has been awarded the ‘State of the States’ Award 2020 for the most improved small state overall and the most improved in the law and order category.
Goa ranked the top spot among the small states as the best performing state overall.
Among the big states, Tamil Nadu managed to retain its position as the best performing state overall, while Assam bagged the position of the most improved big state overall.
The study found that among small states Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura have shown a healthy rise in ranks across multiple indicators.
A report stated that Himachal Pradesh has recorded the biggest climb in the overall ranking in the best performing category for big states, while Haryana has achieved the same position in the most improved category.
