Aizawl: Mizoram is expected to experience heavy rainfall within this week with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy to very heavy showers in different parts of the state during the same period.

Warning issued state disaster management and rehabilitation department on Sunday said that there is likely that Mizoram will experience heavy rainfall (? 7 cm) accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning between 4 August and 9 August as forecasted by IMD.

There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall up to 12 August, it said.

The department urged people to be cautious and alert for their safety as far as possible so as to avoid any calamity due to heavy rainfall in the state.

It further requested to contact and inform the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), – 112/1070 (Toll Free) and the concerned District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) or Deputy Commissioner offices to address any kind of disaster.
