Newly appointed Mizoram Congress president Lalsawta has said his party is preparing for a corruption-free government, which could be trusted by the people of Mizoram.
Briefing the media in Aizawl, Lalsawta said that the Congress party would set up a responsible government in Mizoram, if the party comes to power in 2023.
“We will set up a good and corruption free government, which will be trustworthy. We will set up a courageous government, which will even book high authority for breach of law,” Lalsawta said.
He said that his party will introduce a system in which people will develop and follow the right path by hook or by crook.

The former Mizoram finance minister said that his party would give priority to financial management if it comes to power in the next assembly polls.
He alleged that the state is reeling under financial crisis due to financial mismanagement by the present Mizo National Front (MNF) government headed by chief minister Zoramthanga.
His party would also pay salaries and pensions to government employees and pensioners regularly, he said.
Alleging that government employees and pensioners were paid irregularly under the present government, the Congress president said that the government has now a pension fund amounting to Rs 11,328 lakh due to pensioners.

Lalsawta said that his party did not want to keep the government in the hands of those politicians, who believe that voters could be bought by money.
“We will make efforts to not let the government go into the hands of politicians, who believe they can buy voters. With like-minded people we will strongly oppose such politicians,” he said.
He said his party will no more introduce the New Land Use Policy (NLUP) and stop distributing money if it comes to power in the next assembly polls.
However, the party would assist the poor, hardworking and honest people and entrepreneurs, who try their best to become self-dependent, the Mizoram Congress chief said.
