Former Chakma district BJP chief Ranga Mohan Chakma joins MNF

Mizo BJP leader, Ranga Mohan Chakma at the MNF office on Wednesday

Prominent Chakma BJP leader, Ranga Mohan Chakma on Wednesday joined the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) in Mizoram after tendering his resignation to the party.

This is a major political development in the MNF ruled Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) as the 63-year-old former Chakma District BJP chief had held various posts in the council and retired as an education officer before joining the BJP.

Chief executive member, Rasik Mohan Chakma and other prominent leaders welcomed him to the MNF during an induction programme held at the party’s office inKamalnagar on Wednesday.

CEM Chakma said that Ranga Mohan Chakma’s joining the MNF will further strengthen the party.

His resignation comes a month after another CDBJP president Prema Ranjan Chakma resigned from the party and joined MNF.

Ranga Mohan Chakma’s said, “CDBJP is full of negativities that hamper any development and MNF is capable of ushering in development in the CADC.”

“I have confidence in the present MNF leadership both in the state and CADC, which prompted me to join the MNF.”

“Some of the CDBJP office bearers may be mature in age, but they are not matured in their thoughts and ideas. I see no prospect associating with them anymore”, he further said.
