The total lockdown, which has been extended in Mizoram for two weeks, will come into effect from Monday midnight.

Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga announced this in a tweet on Monday.

Mizoram government on May 31 announced the extension of the statewide lockdown for two weeks till June 30.

“Total lockdown for 2 weeks starting midnight tonight!” chief minister Zoramthanga said in the tweet.

While most of the states have ordered 14-day mandatory quarantine for the returnees, the quarantine period in Mizoram is 21 days.

Informing this, Zoramthanga said home quarantine will be allowed only in unavoidable cases.

“Quarantine period: 21 days. Home quarantine option will be limited to only extreme unavoidable cases,” the chief minister tweeted.

The fresh guidelines on the extended lockdown will be released soon.

“Updated guidelines to follow soon,” the chief minister said.

The Centre in an order extended lockdown in containment zones up to June 30 and announced Unlock 1 stating that the prohibited activities would be opened in a phased manner in areas outside the containment zones.

Mizoram has so far registered a total of 42 COVID19 positive cases with 41 active cases.

The first COVID19 positive case registered in the state was earlier discharged from the hospital after recovery.

The Mizoram chief minister on Monday attended a consultative meeting on Covid19 with MLAs, government officials, representatives of non-government hospitals, Church leaders, village and local councils members, task forces and NGOs.
