Lal Thanhawla’s former cabinet minister Lalrinliana Sailo said he would submit resignation from his MLA’s post and Congress membership.

Lalrinliana Sailo, who held the health minister’s post during 2008-2013 was elected for three consecutive terms from 2003.

Lalrinliana Sailo said the main reason was the government’s inability to create Khawzawl district, a major town of his constituency.

“During our campaigns our party leadership promised Khawzawl district, but our government has totally declined the formation of Khawzawl district, as an elected legislator from the constituency, I accept that the government’s failure is my failure, and looking at the present political scenario of Tuichang constituency, my future is doomed already, I have made my decision to quit from the Congress party and my MLA’s post,” Lalrinliana Sailo said.

Rumours are circulating that Lalrinliana Sailo would join the opposition party – the MNF, who already had expressed their willingness to give him Chalfilh constituency ticket.

Rinliana’s resignation will give a much needed boost to the opposition MNF party, the MNF has also tipped that the resigned home minister R Lalzirliana would join them and contest Tawi constituency on their party ticket.
