To monitor the ground situation of the ongoing election processes, a team of the Election Commission of India will reach Mizoram on a two-day visit from October 16.

In view of the upcoming visit by the ECI, a high level committee headed by chief secretary Arvind Ray was held at CS’ Conference Hall on Friday.

SB Shashank, Chief Electoral Officer, made a detailed briefing on the itinerary of the ECI official visit. It is expected that the full commission of ECI headed by Chief Election Commissioner of India Om Prakash Rawat and the other two Election Commissioners Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa would be landing in Aizawl on October 16.

The team will be accompanied by four Deputy Election Commissioners, two Director Generals and other supporting ECI officials. On October 16th and 17th  they would convene important meetings with the representatives of political parties, election officials, administrators and media persons.

The present term of Mizoram legislature will expire on December 15 and election has been called on November 28 this year.
