The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after making inroads into the entire Northeast barring Mizoram is now eyeing on the last bastion in the region.
The saffron brigade has set up a ‘Christian Missionary Cell’ in the Christian dominated Mizoram on Thursday, stated reports.
The cell will be led by Lalhriatrenga Chhangte who had contested the solitary parliamentary seat of the State earlier this year.
Notably, the BJP had requested him to contest on the party ticket, but Chhangte chose to contest as an Independent candidate, but failed to make any impact.
Chhangte had joined the saffron party last Friday with setting up of the Christian Missionary Cell as one of the primary pre-conditions.
Notably, BJP had won a single seat in the Mizoram Assembly for the first time in 2018.
The objective of the missionary cell will be to collect date of all Christian missionaries, including names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail IDs so as to extend help as and when required.
